DFKI Kaiserslautern
German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH –Kaiserslautern
The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence GmbH (DFKI), headquartered in Kaiserslautern, is the leading research organization in Germany in the field of artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on technology transfer and applications in industry. DFKI projects generally cover the entire spectrum from basic research to the development of product functions geared to the needs of the market and customers.
Although quantum technologies have only just arrived in AI, DFKI has been fundamentally involved in this future topic from a very early stage and has already applied it in its core. In recent years, quantum computing in particular has become increasingly relevant and continues to grow in an interdisciplinary manner. At DFKI, we are already using quantum machine learning (QML) methods with our expertise from a wide range of disciplines, for example, to improve the way robots find their way or to develop the best quantum optimization methods together with the automotive industry. DFKI in Kaiserslautern, for example, is working fundamentally on the idea of embedding quantum properties in new and future-oriented quantum language models. However, many basic principles still need to be understood and researched. Our goal in Kaiserslautern is therefore above all to advance interdisciplinary QML and make it usable for a wide variety of applications.
